Barriers Help With Flood Control

The end of October brought Hurricane Sandy, the largest Atlantic tropical weather system on record, which caused widespread power outages and major flooding across the eastern seaboard.  While no measures could have stopped the force of this storm in all situations, there are circumstances where concrete barriers, along with other engineering modifications, can help prevent flood damage by slowing the flow of water to allow proper drainage.

As you can see from the pictures taken on October 31, 2012, the concrete barriers placed along the back of a parking lot in a shopping center in southeastern PA, not only helped to slow down the flow of water, but stopped debris from clogging the storm drains and allowed for proper drainage.

We are thankful that our Fenix Group Family is safe and sound and our hearts go out to all the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
